Email Blocked by BellSouth
October 29, 2008 Posted by KP
Emails on my Linux VPS were blocked by Bellsouth.net. Since they blocked the email by IP, I can still send email manually as I use Google App to handle the email.
According to returned emails, I submitted a request, they responded quickly and removed the block, that was good. I was told the server might have been compromised and used to send spams. I have no idea, the VPS uses CPanel, I can hardly fix any problems. Hopefully it won’t happen again, otherwise I will move it to a FreeBSD server.
This FreeBSD server has problems sending email to Comcast too, the rejected message said it was a temporary ban due to spams, I believe it’s because of the reverse DNS, but the block is still there after I fixed the dns configuration. Also, there is no reply to my un-block request. I think Comcast is being unreasonable.
